Bankroll Freddie Says He Is Deteriorating In Prison

Bankroll Freddie is sounding the alarm from behind bars. The Arkansas rapper says his health is deteriorating in federal prison and is calling his conditions cruel and unusual punishment.

His Claims

Freddie, born Freddie Gladney III, says prison medical staff are refusing to give him his medication despite being on chronic treatment. He claims his health has significantly declined since being incarcerated and that the facility is not providing adequate medical care.

His legal team is reportedly exploring options to get him released on medical grounds or transferred to a facility that can properly treat him.

The Sentence

Bankroll Freddie was sentenced to 150 months (12.5 years) in federal prison after being convicted of multiple narcotics and firearms offenses. The charges stemmed from a 2022 indictment that labeled him a gang leader involved in distributing large amounts of marijuana between Pine Bluff and Little Rock, Arkansas.

He has called the sentence racially motivated and is currently appealing his conviction. His appeal argues that prosecutors improperly used his rap lyrics and music videos against him at trial.

The Appeal

His case was argued before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in January 2026. No decision has been made yet. His current release date is set for May 2033.

The use of rap lyrics as evidence in criminal trials has become a major civil rights issue, with multiple states now passing laws to limit the practice.

Bottom Line

Bankroll Freddie is fighting on two fronts: his appeal to overturn the conviction, and his immediate health crisis behind bars. Whether the courts listen remains to be seen. His release date is seven years away.
