BLK PRIME has officially announced an 8-episode biographical series titled "The Manager, The Mythology, The Legend," chronicling the life of Joseph Walter Jackson, the patriarch and manager who transformed his family into the most iconic musical dynasty in entertainment history.
A Story Told By Family
The series is being developed and narrated in direct collaboration with Marlon Jackson, founding member of the Jackson 5 and the sixth of Joe Jackson's ten children. This marks the first authorized biographical project with direct family involvement at the creative level.
"Our father's life is replete with triumphs and challenges, and we firmly believe that this series will offer a distinctive and accurate portrayal of the man behind our family," Marlon Jackson said in a statement. "We are thrilled to share our father's indelible legacy with fans worldwide, granting them an intimate glimpse into the remarkable individual we knew and loved."

What The Series Will Explore
The show will trace Joe Jackson's journey from his early years in Gary, Indiana through his transformation into one of the most consequential figures in music management. Under his direction, the Jackson 5 became the youngest international group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Their first four singles debuted at number one consecutively: "I Want You Back," "ABC," "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There." No group had accomplished that before. The series will examine how Jackson orchestrated that meteoric rise, including the pivotal partnership with Berry Gordy and Motown Records that gave the group a global platform.
Beyond the music, the series promises to explore the personal struggles, family dynamics, and relentless ambition that defined Joe Jackson's approach to building his children's careers. Through Marlon's firsthand narration, audiences will experience moments that have never been shared publicly.
Joe Jackson's Complicated Legacy
Joseph Walter Jackson passed away on June 25, 2018 at the age of 89. His legacy remains one of the most debated in entertainment history. While credited with building the careers of Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, and the entire Jackson family, his strict management style has been the subject of public discussion for decades.
This series appears positioned to present his story from the family's perspective for the first time, with Marlon offering what BLK PRIME describes as "a distinctive and accurate portrayal" of his father.
Multiple Seasons Committed
BLK PRIME has committed to multiple seasons of the series, with the first season consisting of 8 episodes. Additional announcements regarding pre-production and casting are expected in the coming months.
"Joe Jackson was a visionary trailblazer who laid the groundwork for one of the most triumphant family dynasties in the realm of music. It is with immense honor that we collaborate with Marlon Jackson to bring this inspirational and multi-faceted story to television screens worldwide."
That statement came from Lauren Pearson, Vice President of Operations at BLK PRIME.
