A New Backup Center
The New York Knicks, fresh off their first championship in decades, made their first roster move of the offseason by signing veteran center Andre Drummond to a minimum deal. He replaces Mitchell Robinson, who left for the Celtics on a three year, $47.4 million contract.
Drummond, a two time All Star, brings rebounding and rim protection off the bench behind Karl-Anthony Towns.
What He Brings
At 32 years old, Drummond remains the NBA's active leader in career rebounds. While he is no longer a starter-caliber player, his ability to grab offensive boards and protect the rim in short bursts makes him an ideal backup.
The Knicks needed size depth after Robinson's departure, and Drummond fills that role without requiring significant financial investment.

The Knicks have been careful not to disrupt their championship core while making targeted additions. They also re-signed sharpshooter Landry Shamet on a four year deal, keeping continuity while addressing specific gaps in the rotation.
